Your privacy is important to us. While we do not currently collect any personally identifiable information on the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum's Light Pollution project website, we believe it is important to share with our visitors how we use the information we do collect.
Beginning September 22, 2006, the site will permit visitors to enter star count data into our database via a web form. All fields in that forms are required except for the name field. We reserve the right to screen all submissions prior to posting to the website for appropriateness and to ensure that identifying information, such as an e-mail address, has not been entered by the user. If additional information has been inadvertently included in the submission, it will be deleted from all project records.
We do not currently use cookies on our site.
Aggregate web logs are used to produce general site statistics reports, such as most frequently visited pages, which help us improve the site.
Because the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum frequently updates its web projects to reflect current events in relevant scientific fields, it is possible that we will add features in the near future that require collecting personal information, such as e-mail addresses. Should that occur, the website privacy policy will be updated as appropriate. To ensure that our visitors are aware of updates, we will include a prominent additional link to our privacy policy on any added features collecting identifiable personal information.
The Adler Planetarium Chicago Science Expedition project website will never share personally identifiable information with third parties. A more comprehensive policy will be written if features are added that collect this information, but any policy will include a prohibition on sharing personally identifiable information, such as e-mail addresses, with third parties.
